Junkyards aren’t what they used to be, and finding a clean, unmolested Chevy block is becoming a real chore. Summit Racing heard the complaints and arrived at SEMA 2025 with a serious solution: their new line of “SPC” (Street, Performance, Competition) iron blocks. For the Chevy fans out there, this means brand-new, ultra-strong foundations for both small-block and big-block builds are now readily available.
Cast from high-grade Class 35 German iron and machined in the U.S., these blocks are far more than just stock replacements. The small-block Chevy version addresses the scarcity of good 350 and 400 main cores, providing a robust new platform available in various bores to build anything from a mild cruiser to a large-displacement race engine.

For the big-block crowd, Summit really delivered. The big-block blocks feature priority-main oiling, crucial for keeping those big journals alive at high rpm. They are cleared right out of the box for massive stroker kits—think 555 cubic inches and beyond—and are available in both standard and tall-deck configurations to suit any build recipe.
Summit Racing’s Justin Weideman emphasized that these blocks are built for abuse. They all come with upgraded main cap hardware and ship bored 0.005 inch under final size, so your machinist can dial in the perfect piston-to-wall clearance. With these new SPC blocks, the days of gambling on questionable junkyard cores are officially over.
