SEMA 2019: OPGI Scores A Touchdown With Jared Cook’s ’70 Chevelle

Original Parts Group is known for providing high-quality replacement parts for classics. Well, what’s more classic than a professional football player’s custom 1970 Chevelle? Arguably, the most popular model year of all Chevelles, Jared Cook’s 1970 takes things a step further and shows what a true craftsman’s hands can assemble with the right parts.

Jared is known for tearing up the turf, playing Tight End for the New Orleans Saints. So, when it came time to build something custom, he had to incorporate some NOLA flavor. He reached out to the skilled artisans at Fuller Moto – namely Bryan Fuller. After a brainstorming session or two, they came up with a gameplan that incorporated several heavy-hitting names in the industry.

The black and gold motif is striking, to say the least, and the LS2 under the hood is no slouch. But, one of our favorite features of the build is the interior. Custom leather-wrapped buckets and floor mats that let everyone know just who drives this Bow Tie beast – big, bad, number 87!

Of course, no interior is complete without a clean dash. Bryan knew just who to reach out to when it came time to cap off the cockpit of Jared’s ride. Original Parts Group Inc (OPGI) provided several parts to complete the build, but the dash serves as a hallmark to the quality and precision manufacturing. If there is one part that restorers know to be difficult to fit correctly, it’s a dash pad.

Well, Bryan had nothing but complimentary words to say about the OPGI offering. “The Original Parts Group Chevelle dash grows on me more and more all the time! Maybe it’s a good thing the original got lost somewhere before we got the car,” he states.

If that doesn’t serve as a testament to the quality OPGI brings to the table, we don’t know what will. Bryan knows it takes a village of aftermarket manufacturers to raise a custom hot rod fit for a beast. So, those OPGI parts were accompanied by a whole host of custom touches.

Jared’s Chevelle was hooked up with air-conditioning from Vintage Air, suspension from Hotchkis, exhaust from Magnaflow, fasteners from ARP, custom wheels from Forgeline, and countless custom touches from Fuller Moto.
