SEMA 2017: DynoMax Show Truck Is A 1958 Chevy Apache Farm Truck

This 1958 Chevy Apache recently made the transition from bone-stock farm truck to badass cruiser while in the capable hands of Chis Holstrom Concepts out of Puyallup, Washington, and we talked to Holstrom at this week’s SEMA Show to get the skinny on this stellar build.

“This one came into the shop as a completely stock farm truck,” Chris explained. It was a simple driver until the owner blew the transmission and it ended up sitting in his garage. He wasn’t sure what to do, but he had enough car guys around him that they talked him into sliding an Art Morrison chassis underneath the classic Apache body.

The owner wanted the truck to be manually-shiftable, so they guys put a Tremec six-speed in it, behind the FiTech-fueled Blueprint 383 cubic-inch small-block. The owner also wanted Vintage Air, so it’s equipped with high-end climate control. That Art Morrison chassis features coilovers all the way around, Corvette IRS-style front suspension, a 3.89-geared 9-inch rear, Wilwood disc brakes on all corners, ididit tilt column, and Billet Specialties steering wheel.

They wanted to keep the build simple, so the team didn’t touch anything they didn’t have to. “If we didn’t have to touch it, we didn’t want to touch it,” Chris said, “We just wanted to add all the fun stuff.” They haven’t even changed the paint, they just gave it a quick once-over with a buffer and called it good.

So, now that the folks at Dynomax have this old farm truck sounding good, maybe the owner will even let them haul the company wares around town and look good as well.
