After the announcement that the ’72 Camaro owned by Kevin Higgins was stolen along with a piece of his prosthetic leg, there was an outpouring of emotion and kindness from the local community. KSAT in San Antonio, Texas provided video footage of the damage caused by car thieves after police located the vehicle the next day.

Despite the abysmal rattle can paint job and the many of the parts being stripped from the car, it was mostly intact. Police found the Camaro the next day near an abandoned home, as they pulled up to the property the thieves were in the process of stripping the car and they took off immediately at the site of the cruisers.

Caliber Collision, a local body shop in the San Antonio area was able to remove the spray paint from the ’72 Camaro belonging to Higgins. According to Higgins, the shop used a special rubbing compound to bring the car back to it former glory. Luckily the insurance company can handle the rest of the damage caused by the thieves, but police did not recover the missing piece that attached Higgins’ prosthesis to his leg.

Again, the community came to rescue; Premier Prosthetics offered to replace the missing liner and they were able to expedite the process to get Higgins walking again.  It may take some time, but the Camaro should be better than before in no time. Let’s just hope that the leads help the San Antonio Police catch the lowlifes behind this cowardly act.
