SV Engineering & Performance of Peabody, Massachusetts brings two major trademarks to Boston’s north shore. First, they specialize in muscle car restoration and repair but SV also boasts of being the north shore’s only rolling chassis dyno service.
Aside from being among the area’s best in equipment and technology, SV Engineering is fortunate enough to enjoy the expertise of seasoned mechanic, Stephen Varney, who is known in the high performance field.
This black, ’70 Nova is one of their most recent creations. A 540ci rat-powered coupe. The Nova produces 477 horsepower with 501 pounds of twist, subtle numbers that are no doubt thanks to the Merlin motor, also featuring Merlin heads with plenty of room to grow.
The radical setup is topped off by a Holley, 1050cfm Dominator carb, backed by a 4-speed chasing a firm set of 4.10 gears. As one can see from this feature video from SV Engineering & Performance, long man hours and much manual labor goes into the completion of a hot rod like this 540 Nova from SV.
It’s not a product that ever comes easily, but in the case of SV Engineering with their street-bred Nova, it was a product that proved worthy of the sweat and hard work that went behind it.
Watch carefully as the SV crew works furiously to get their black Nova dialed-in, tightening braided fuel lines and running the car through extensive, performance dyno testing. As you can see from the final dyno results, hard work paid off.
