Five LT4-Powered Vehicles At Barrett-Jackson You Have To See

Chevrolet introduced the LT4 engine in 2014 by way of the C7 Corvette Z06. This 6.2-liter supercharged powerplant offered 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of stump-pulling torque, making it the perfect candidate not only for the high-powered Corvette but for hot rodders alike. Chevrolet realized this and introduced the wet-sump LT4 crate engine in the 2016 Chevrolet Performance lineup. Fast forward a few years, and the LT4 has become a popular choice for the restomod and Pro-Touring crowd, despite its hefty $15,000 price point. And if you’re in the market for an LT4-powered hot rod, we have a treat for you. Barrett-Jackson has a few vehicles powered by the supercharged crate engine that can be purchased at an upcoming auction in March 2021.

We realize that not everyone is a wagon fan, but this 1955 Chevy might change their mind. It has a mix of all the right parts with a supercharged LT4 engine, Ultimate Headers, tunable armor-coated Borla exhaust, custom-fabricated carbon intake tube backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. The body is perched above a Dutchson 9-inch rear axle with a Truetrac differential and 31-spline axles. Other modifications include Ridetech suspension, Baer brakes, American Autowire harness, and a PRC radiator. The ’55 has a professionally painted and hand-pinstriped exterior with handmade bumpers, Ringbrothers door handles, all-new stainless, and custom Mercedes-Benz headlights. The Chevy rolls on a set of Billet Specialties wheels, 20×12-inch rears, and 18×7-inch fronts wrapped in Michelin tires.

1971 Chevrolet K5 Blazer

If you’re looking for a four-wheel-drive vehicle with LT4 power, this 1971 K5 Blazer has you covered. The engine is connected to a 4L80E automatic transmission and is equipped with a billet ATLAS transfer case. The K5 offers Off-Road Design leaf springs with a 3-inch lift and eight-lug axles with 4.10 gears. The front axle has a Detroit Truetrac locker, and the rearend has an ARB locker with a compressor.

It rolls around on a set of 18-inch Detroit Steel wheels with 295/70-18 Goodyear MTR Kevlar tires. Other mods include Vintage Air, Rick’s stainless fuel tank, Ultimate stainless headers, Billet Specialties front drive kit, CPP Hydroboost brake booster, and custom-made air intake. The K5 has a custom leather interior done by the award-winning Jon Lind in houndstooth.

1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Coupe-Black

The 1963 Corvette Split-Window Coupe is one of the most sought-after Corvettes of all time, and no expense was spared with this build. It offers a custom frame with C7 suspension, RideTech adjustable coilovers, and C7 braking. Of course, it’s powered by a GM 6.2-liter LT4 mated to a GM 8L90 automatic transmission, wired with a Speartech stand-alone wiring harness. The C2 is equipped with custom exhaust with side pipes, Vintage Air, power rack-and-pinion steering, and power brakes. The leather interior features custom bucket seats, door panels, headliner, and Dakota Digital carbon-fiber gauges. The body on this rare Corvette was finished in PPG Black Diamond paint.

1955 Chevrolet Nomad Wagon

If you’re looking for the perfect family hauler, this 1955 Chevrolet Nomad Custom Wagon might be the one. This ’55, named Brandy, took Denny’s Bowtie Restorations two years to complete and countless man-hours. The 670 horsepower LT4 mates to a built TR6060 six-speed manual transmission with a Chevrolet Performance clutch and a Sikky custom shifter.

The Nomad sits on a one-off custom frame with a Corvette C5 differential and front and rear suspension with RideTech Shockwaves with Bluetooth ride control. Wilwood brakes bring the wagon to a halt when needed with the help of 20×8.5 and 22×10.5 Budnik GTB wheels with Michelin Pilot performance tires. While the custom sand-colored leather interior on this wagon is super nice, the paint job is fantastic. As you might expect, the body is blemish-free and uses a unique blend of primers, three coats of Orion Silver, five coats of Kandy Brandywine, and five coats of House of Kolor Show clear.

1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Coupe-Silver

If we could have any car on this list, this 1963 Corvette Split-Window Coupe would be our choice. Paul Atkins was the vision behind this killer build. The C2 sits on a custom-built SRIII chassis with C6 suspension, transaxle, and QA1 adjustable shocks. The LT4 is mated to a T56 six-speed manual transmission with a Monster Clutch Inc. twin-disc hydraulic clutch.

Maserati Silver Grigio Nuvolari Metallic PPG paint was used on the exterior. Paul Atkins Interiors built the inside of this killer C2 and used Lipstick Red leather with Charcoal accents. The split window sits on a set of custom wheels from Mile Curtis Designs that are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Other modifications include custom-built seats, Dakota Digital HDX Gauges, Dashworks custom dash, and a Vintage Air unit.

We expect any of these builds to go for top dollar at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, AZ, March 20-27. And while we won’t be bidding, it’s always fun to watch. Be sure to check your local listings on FYI or the History channel for broadcast schedules.
