The 1966 and ’67 Chevrolet Nova was designed as a mid-size car for the masses. As such, performance goodies were optional, but not abundant. One of the areas that were more main-street than drag strip was the “idiot-light” laden dash. With typically not much more than a fuel gauge, speedo, and odometer, information wasn’t very forthcoming when it came to the activity under the hood.
Thanks to Classic Instruments, all that has changed and enthusiasts don’t even have to drill holes or cut to get all the information they crave. Classic Instruments has just announced the release of an all-new, direct-fit package for the 1966-’67 Nova offering information via a bevy of gauges such as a speedometer, tachometer, fuel level, engine temperature, oil pressure, and volt gauges; along with the necessary indicator lights, such as turn indicators, high-beam, and warning light. All lighting is modern LED bulbs.
All gauges are electronic, and the fuel gauge programmable to work with any ohm range thanks to a selector switch located on the back of the cluster. The fuel gauge is adjustable to read properly when using the factory sending unit, many other aftermarket units, or the Classic Instruments fuel level sending unit. Speedometer calibration is quick and easy with push-button control, and the cluster requires no external control boxes and works directly with ECM or VSS signals.
There is a single wire harness connection on the back of the gauge cluster, including a connection for an external shift light as well. The wire harness includes a separate 12-volt power and ground lead which allows the addition of a check engine light, door ajar, or low-oil pressure indicator.
The upgraded gauge cluster mounts in the factory gauge bezel and uses the original diffuser plate. Both items sourced from the factory unit or sold separately. A new, laser-cut plastic lens is supplied with the gauge cluster. The cluster is available in five different colors and can be purchased from Classic Instruments direct or through any one of its authorized dealers.
