TMI Products’ New ’68 to ’72 Chevelle Interior: An Upgrade In A Box

When many enthusiasts are assembling their hot rods, some focus on building power before anything else. Others, however, want the exterior of the car or truck to be a serious showstopper. But quite often, in both instances, the interior simply gets a revamp of the OE style. While the OE interiors were adequate for the day, why not infuse a little modernization into the ride with the help of TMI Products.

If you like this interior, TMI used Pro Series Universal Sport R1000 low-back seats in front, and a Sport R1000 rear set with a center console, the color combination is listed as Dark Reno Red leather with Aberdeen Perf Dark Reno with White Stitching and Parchment Pearl Stripes.

By now, I’m certain that many of you have seen a car with an interior put together by TMI Products. The company has been designing and these DIY-install kits for more than 35 years, and are continually creating new and exciting products to update current offerings — or even add parts to the existing lineup.

The dash begins as a molded fiberglass unit, which then gets a vinyl cover.

According to Jonathan Frank, vice president of sales and marketing, “TMI recognizes the needs of enthusiasts and recognizes that feedback, which results in products like our latest offering of the’68 through ’72 Chevelle line being added to our repertoire.”

The TMI interior products are far from OE and will make any Chevelle the envy of the cruise night or car show. TMI has a plethora of different materials to choose from, many stitch patterns available, and many colors to choose from. The available options will help create an interior that “pops” against any exterior color palette. “TMI uses only the highest quality materials and incorporates craftsmanship into every item with hand-crafted options to customize the interior to the customer’s desires,” affirms Jonathan.

The Door and rear panels are also Sport R1000s. As the interior comes together, it's easy to see how these pre-engineered kits can improve any hot rod.

While TMI products are not a one-off custom interior, the benefits offered far outweigh the alternative. Let’s face it creating custom upholstery seems to be a dying art, and interior artisans are few and far between. As mentioned, there is a myriad of choices available when designing your TMI interior, so take your time to figure out precisely what you want before ordering. The interior is complete and is even installed on all-new seat frames. You don’t have to worry about repairing rusty, squeaky, or weak springs.
