Team Boddie’s $10K Drags Buick Regal Goes Up For Auction

If you or your team didn’t make the final cut for the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout, and you didn’t win our $10K Drag Shootout Sweepstakes that, among other prizes, awarded one of the vehicles built on the show to one lucky winner, you still have one final shot to own a piece of machinery from the premiere season of the online streaming sensation.

This week, Team Boddie’s nitrous oxide-assisted 1984 Buick Regal — which grudge racing star Jay Boddie, team leader Russ Wullenwaber, and the rest of the highly-talented California-based squad assembled over the course of 10 days for $10,000– is up for auction on eBay, with all of the proceeds from the sale going into the acquisition of new cars and equipment for the second season of the $10K Drag Shootout in 2019.

Team Boddie’s Regal, affectionately named the G-Boddie — a reference to the GN G-body platform upon which the car was built from the factory — is powered by a 505 cubic-inch big-block Chevrolet with aftermarket ProMaxx cylinder heads and a whole host of quality rotating assembly and valvetrain components. A pro Systems carburetor provides the air and fuel that’s mixed with the nitrous oxide from their NOS Big-Shot fogger system to produce 8-second-capable horsepower. During the big race for $10,000 at the Shakedown at the Summit in Norwalk, Ohio, Boddie piloted the car to a best of 9.19-seconds but issues early in their raceday run ended their hopes and dreams in the first round competition at the hands of eventual winner Team Bigun.

The G-Boddie is being sold as-is and without a warranty; this is a real-deal racecar, and with the right repairs, modifications, and dyno tuning tweaks, has all the capability in the world of running well into the 8-second zone. If you’re looking for an affordable path into drag racing, or simply want to add to your fleet, this is the opportunity to acquire a well-built piece at a relative bargain to the cost it would take to assemble it from scratch. So, get to bidding, and good luck!
