It’s every car enthusiast’s dream to find a decades-old car with delivery miles still on the clock. So what do you do when you find one? Especially if it’s a Camaro? If you’re the team at Holley, you tear it apart to build a SEMA show car.
In a new video series, Holley has unveiled its next feature build: an incredibly well-preserved 1995 Camaro Z28 with a documented 408 original miles.
The Ultimate 1995 Camaro Z28
The vision for this low-mileage survivor is ambitious. “What we’re trying to do is kind of recreate what I think is one of the best modern Camaros ever built, which is the Camaro ZL1 1LE,” explained narrator Mark Gearheart. To achieve that level of performance, the original powertrain has to go.
“So, what we’re doing with our 95 here is taking out the LT1 and putting in an LT4,” he said. The modern, supercharged LT4 is a massive upgrade, as it will provide almost 2.5 times the horsepower than the outgoing factory LT1. Impressive, right?
Modern Tech In A Classic Body
The team is also swapping out the original manual transmission for a modern automatic. “For you purists out there that see that this is a three-pedal car, yes, we are going to make a two-pedal car, and it’s going to have a 6L80,” Mark acknowledged.
A full suite of Holley electronics will control the new setup, including a Terminator X Max engine management system and a Pro-Dash digital display. These modern electronics are the key to making this 1995 Camaro Z28 run like a new car. The build will also feature other high-performance parts, including Baer brakes and Simpson seats.
A SEMA-Bound Survivor
With the SEMA show just a few months away, the Holley team is on a tight deadline to complete this complex build. Holley is documenting the project in a four-part video series, which will also highlight the technical differences between swapping an LT engine versus the more common LS.
While the decision to give such a low-mileage car a complete overhaul may shock some, Holley is using this pristine platform to showcase what’s possible.
The build will transform this 408-mile time capsule from a perfectly preserved piece of ’90s muscle into a modern, fire-breathing supercar. Stay tuned for more updates regarding this 1995 Camaro Z28, or you can follow Holley’s socials for real-time updates.
