The world of aftermarket car parts and motorsports involves incredible sums of money. In 2012 alone, SEMA estimates there was some $31 billion of automotive parts and accessory sales in the U.S. alone. Meanwhile, NASCAR teams have to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to stay competitive, with Hendricks Motorsports valued at $357 million.
With that kind of money floating around, a lot of good can be done for the world. One aftermarket company is doing more than most to give back to the community, with aftermarket wheel maker WELD Racing supporting two Kick It for Childrens’ Cancer charity events.
The first event is the WELD Racing Tony Stewart Kart Race Spectacular, which as you may have guessed originally starred Tony Stewart. Due to injury, a replacement pro will step in. The winner will get a unique trophy presented by Jeff Gordon and (pending injury update) Tony Stewart. One would hope Stewart isn’t so injured that he can’t present a trophy.
The entire A Main lineup will join Tony Stewart at a Kick It for Children’s Cancer charity kickball event in August. During the August 9th event, at Knoxville’s Young Park, WELD Racing will donate a set of racing rims worth up to $3,000 to the winner of a charity truck auction. Winners can pick from WELD’s line of 17-inch or 20-inch rims, depending on whether you are looking for performance or style.
Kickball and kart racing? That’s the kind of charity we can get behind, and big-ups to WELD for putting their some of their hard-earned money to a good cause.
