Some of the most interesting rides around these days are not those pavement-ripping torque monsters that rely on parachutes to slow down. Balanced performance is far more challenging to achieve and is routinely challenged at popular events, such as the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational.
For Larry Callahan, meeting the challenge meant starting with a twin-turbo 406 small-block and a Richmond six-speed transmission. Working in conjunction with Prodigy Customs, Callahan’s ’68 Camaro also received an Art Morrison front sub-frame and custom Prodigy four-link rear suspension with dual adjustable dampers all around.
Fourteen-inch Wilwood brakes backup the Forgeline wheels and BFG rubber to build ultimate performance. These are a long way from the Bowtie’s original hardware and help it to become a serious competitor in modern performance events. If you don’t believe us, just take a look at the video below.

Since Wilwood was founded in 1977, the company has developed a substantial catalog of brake components and engineering techniques, allowing them to quickly and reliably create brake systems for almost any application whether OEM, street or racing performance.
