Video: Spend Valentine’s Day with Your True Love

According to The Internet, each year 180 million Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged (85% of which are bought by women) and 198 million roses are produced (73% bought by men, and 14% by women for themselves). We spend an average of $116.21 each, and 53% of women say that they would end their relationship if they didn’t get at least SOMETHING on Valentine’s day.

Valentine Fun Fact!

In Japan, Valentine’s day is celebrated in a unique way – instead of couples exchanging gifts, women present gifts to men, mostly in the form of chocolate. There are two kinds of gifts as well. For your coworkers, friends, and boss, there is “giri-choco” (“obligation chocolate”) while you give those you are romantically involved with “honmei-choco,” which is often hand-made.

One month later, Japanese men reciprocate with “White Day” gifts (typically white chocolate, flowers, and other candies) on March 14th, better known in the US as “Steak and [expletive] Day.”

Anyone who’s been in a relationship long enough to celebrate Valentine’s Day together knows what a minefield it can be. While it’s an extremely commercialized holiday, just try blowing it off with your SO and see how that goes. Hopefully, you’ll both be able to do something together that isn’t too expensive, too crowded, or too likely to lead to a fight.

In the video above, we see a couple both imagining what a perfect Valentine’s Day spent with their true love would look like, but even though they are both car lovers, unfortunately their plans don’t quite line up. Have you ever lost a relationship because you had to choose between it and your car? Do you regret that, or did you dodge a bullet? Let us know in the comments below!
