The ’69 Camaro holds a special place in any Camaro lover’s heart. That is why when we see videos like the one below, it just makes us sick to our stomach.
The video is an on-board camera of what looks like a track day at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, California from a few years ago. The driver seems to jump the curb at the worst possible spot on the track and at the exit of the corner dips his left rear tire off into the sand. This sends the Camaro in to a spin, and right towards what looks like the pit entrance of the track.
The sound of the impact is spectacular, and horrifying at the same time. The good news is the user that uploaded the video posted an update about a month ago on the car, “We repaired the damage and put her back on track last weekend at Thunderhill Raceway in Northern California. Lots of chassis setup work to do as it was pushing badly, however lap times were respectable for first time out…”
The driver is extremely lucky that it wasn’t any worse. It’s good to hear that they were able to repair the car and get it back out on the track. This is why it is extremely important that anytime you go out for a track day or an autocross event that you never skimp on safety.
