Our friends over at Ride Tech have put together an incredible 5-part video series on the installation of a full air ride suspension on a ’65 Chevy C-10. This video is the first of the five and introduces the truck and it’s owner, Johnny Merder, a Ride Tech employee. The build takes place over the course of a single day and takes place at Ride Tech’s facility.
The truck was originally his grandfather’s work truck and was in daily use all the way up until just a few years ago before his grandfather passed away. Johnny inherited the truck and drive it as it was until driving one of Ride Tech’s shop trucks. Once he had seen and felt how it could be like he decided to do a full blown install himself.
We were surprised to see that the video does not try to take the typical “look how easy it is” approach when following the installation. Just like the rest of us Johnny find himself chiseling bolts off that just won’t die, breaking drill bits, and hitting problems he didn’t think he’d run into even while working with Ride Tech installers in their ultra posh facility. Working on an all original 40 year old vehicle, even if it isn’t full of rust, can have it’s challenges, right?
