If you missed the NMCA West Coast Shootout this year, you missed a lot of Camaros showing their stuff on the autocross track. While Camaros weren’t the only ones on the track, we did see our fair share of them with every generation of the famed f-body represented. Even Bill Goldberg, a professional athlete and car enthusiast, got in on the action. A recent Camaro Performers’ YouTube video captures Goldberg’s reaction to being able to ride around the autocross track with a Camaro owner.
Carl Casanova, the owner of a 1968 pro-touring Camaro, gave Goldberg an opportunity he couldn’t pass up- a ride along through the autocross course. We’re not quite sure if autocrossing would be considered beating your car up like Goldberg said you should do to an old car you’ve had for a long time (although running over, and dragging cones along the autocross track probably wouldn‘t be seen as treating your car nicely), but it was obvious that he had a good time.
Upon Goldberg’s completion of the autocross track, he stated something that we feel most autocrossers, or racers of any kind, would agree with- that you can’t do it enough times no matter the car or the power behind it.
We’re glad that so many Camaros made it out to the event and that Goldberg was given a taste of what many of us would call the sweet life. This video just goes to show that car guys, no matter how rich or famous, can always get joy from a muscle car and a race course.
