The Hot Rodding community is abuzz with the recent news out of Ontario, California, home of Total Cost Involved (TCI) Engineering. Long known for their quality workmanship in the restoration market, the company is now advertising an incredible warranty.
One of TCI Engineering’s longtime mottos has been “Quality doesn’t cost, it pays.” The recent announcement of a 6 year/60,000 mile warranty on wear and tear items coupled with the lifetime warranty on TCI manufactured items supports that motto.
“Technically we’ve been doing this for forty-years,” said Jason Wilcox, Marketing Representative for TCI Engineering. “Why not advertise it?” he added.
When it comes to the wear and tear items, TCI Engineering specifically defines these as wear and tear items:
“Link Bar Bushings, Anti-Sway Bar Bushings, Pedal Arm Bushing, Front Shocks, Front Shock Bushings, Torque Arm Slider Bushings, Torque Arm Slider Boot, Rack & Pinion Bushings, Axles, Bolt-On Anti-Sway Bar Brackets, Brake Line, Brake Line Clamps, Rear Axle Seals, Thru-Frame Fittings, Leaf Spring U-Bolts, TCI All American Coil-Overs, Coil-Over Bushings, Coil-Over Spherical Bearings, Anti-Sway Bars, Booster, Master Cylinder (Brake & Clutch), Upper Control Arm Crossshaft, Brake Hoses, Bushing Adjusters, King Pins, Vega Steering Box, Steering U-Joints, Steering Column, Engine/Transmission Mounts, Shocks, Springs (Coil & Leaf), Air Bags, Proportioning Valve, Check Valves, Hardware, Power Steering Hose Kit, Flow Valves, and Headers.”
The RideTech Coil-Overs Shock has a 1,000,001 Mile Warranty and the TCI Engineering manufactured items have a lifetime warranty.
“We know that we are the only ones that can back up a warranty like this and still be here tomorrow,” Wilcox proudly stated. “We’ve always done it this way.”
It’s nice that the company claims that they’ve been operating this way for forty-years but the legal system works differently. Could the legality of the warranty deny a claim by a customer that bought a system before the warranty went into effect? “Everybody is grandfathered in,” said Wilcox. “If someone bought a system five years and six months ago, they still have six month of warranty left.”
The only exclusions to the warranty are very high wear items like brake rotors, pads, drums and brake shoes. The only restriction is that the customer making the claim must be the original purchaser of the product and the parts must have been properly installed, maintained and unmodified.
Like founder Ed Moss has always said, “We’re still setting the highest standard for reliability and performance–as we’ve done now for 40 years–and we promise to achieve this standard in all the products we deliver to you.”
Now it is backed by a unique, one-of-a-kind warranty in print. The warranty announcement from Total Cost Involved Engineering can be viewed here: TCI Engineering Press Release
