All year long, drivers from all over the country have been competing in Goodguys AutoCross competitions at over a dozen Goodguys Rod & Custom Association shows. But in order to be considered one of the best, you have to put your vehicle through the ranks and win a place in the Goodguys AutoCross Finals Shootout held every year at the November Southwest Nationals in Arizona. While the competition has been especially tough this year, 14 drivers are already in the running to be given the title of the 2014 Goodguys AutoCross Champion, with over 3/4ths of them winning their position in one of the biggest autocross competitions of the year in classic Chevys.

The Goodguys AutoCross Finals Shootout will take place this year at the 17th Southwest Nations, set to take place in Scottsdale, Arizona November 14th through the 16th.

So far, 14 drivers have earned their place in the end-of-the-season competition by competing in and winning at least one AutoCross competition at a Goodguys show this season.

Just five more qualifying events remain for autocross enthusiasts to earn their place in the final shootout, with one driver qualifying from the American Street Car Series Run to Music City event, Goodguys Lone Star Nationals, Goodguys Southeastern Nationals and the Goodguys Autumn Get-Together.

The fifth and final qualifying event will be the Friday, November 14th race-in session at the Goodguys Southwest Nationals, with five participants moving on from this event to the finals. With the top nine Pro Class drivers, a total of 32 vehicles will compete in the final 2014 Goodguys AutoCross competition.

The top drivers already qualified for the AutoCross Finals Shootout include Chevy owners Brian Hobaugh driving his ’65 Corvette, Kyle Tucker driving his ’70 Camaro, Greg Thurmond driving his ’64 Corvette, Mike DuSold driving his ’67 Camaro, Rob MacGregor driving his ’69 C-10 pickup, Josh Leisinger driving his ’64 Corvette, Bob Bertelsen driving his ’69 C-10 pickup, Tom Farrington driving his ’66 Chevelle, Brian Finch driving his ’66 Corvette, Tyler Powell driving his ’63 Corvette and last year’s AutoCross Finals Shootout winner, Danny Popp driving his ’72 Corvette.

Top drivers not only in the Chevy community but also the autocross scene, these fantastic drivers will battle it out on Saturday, November 15th for cash, trophies, BF Goodrich tires, a Snap-On toolbox, and of course, bragging rights. The top winner will also have his/her car named one of Goodguys Top 12 Cars of the Year.

If you haven’t already qualified for the 2014 Goodguys AutoCross Finals Shootout, we wish you the best of luck. Be sure to stay tuned right here later in the fall as we take you to the front lines of the Goodguys Southwest Nationals and give you a front-row seat to all the AutoCross Finals Shootout action!

Last year’s champion, Danny Popp will be defending his Goodguys AutoCross Finals Shootout title at this year’s event.
