Throwback Thursday: EFI Fuel Delivery: Knowing What You Need Is Key

Can you believe the end of another week is almost here? Friday is about to hit our doorstep. It’s true when they say time flies when you’re having fun. Now that Thursday has hit us and the end of the week is announcing its arrival, it’s time for another Throwback Thursday.

This week, we are taking a trip back to July 2018 to check out, EFI Fuel Delivery: Knowing What You Need Is Key To Smooth Running. It’s impossible to logically argue the benefits of EFI, but the wiring and fuel system modifications needed, make many enthusiasts cling to carburetors. That’s not a bad thing, as carburetors have been around forever – and they do work. But in recent years, aftermarket companies have begun to take the hassle out of EFI swaps by developing more easily tuned systems that require less of a degree in electrical engineering.

Hyperfuel’s stamped-steel reproduction fuel tanks require no modifications to mount. The tanks include baffling, sending unit, and a 340-lph fuel pump.

In the original article, we remind you guys that many EFI users seem to forget about the delivery of the fuel to the EFI system mounted to the engine. The many self-learning EFI kits found on the market today are all quality engineered systems, and they even come with a basic EFI-capable fuel system to get your car running. But, although they are adequate in regard to supplying fuel to the engine, one thing that seems to get overlooked is getting the fuel out of the tank under any condition.

Holley’s 255-lph Drop-In Retrofit EFI Fuel System w/Hydramat supports up to 550 horsepower with EFI, or 700 when using a carburetor.

For instance, with a carburetor, fuel slosh is not much of an issue because of the carburetor’s fuel bowls. With EFI, no fuel bowl means no reserve fuel to feed the engine if the pick up in the tank gets uncovered. The article focuses on three variations of creating a great EFI fuel system.

There’s a lot more to this incredible story, and that definitely makes it worthy of a second look. For that reason, I selected EFI Fuel Delivery: Knowing What You Need Is Key To Smooth Running as this week’s Throwback Thursday showcase article.
