We came across this video that the folks from Autoholics posted on their site of a late ’70s Camaro launching at the drags, and judging by the way it leaves, it’s a hand full to drive. We don’t know who owns the car or what race track the car was raced on,but its definitely in the category of being one of those cars that are way overpowered for a stock bodied, leaf spring chassis. We weren’t able to see what it ran for an ET but it looked as if it was deep into the 10 second zone, because it covered a lot of ground really quick.
We’re not sure if this car is used on the street to do battle with unsuspecting Mustangs and the like, but if it is, you can be sure they’re in for a big surprise when all they see is this Camaro’s tail lights. This 3rd generation Camaro definitely gives true meaning to the wolf in sheep’s clothing. Back in the late 70’s through the early 80’s these 3rd generation Camaro’s were anything but fast and were not any threat to any of the cars that roamed the streets, they were more for looks than anything else.
