ESPN reports that NFL Tampa Bay Rays manager, Joe Maddon has rewarded himself for his recent contract extension by buying a ’56 two door sedan.
A clean looking car, the ’56 post was apparently bought and restored in Arizona, only to be shipped to Maddon’s spring training facility in Port Charlotte, Florida. Classic cars often take time to dial in, and Maddon is apparently very clear about the costs that come with owning a nice Tri Five like his, “The Bel Air is not ready…It’s like some of the guys in spring training[;] we’re going to have to take our time with it…It’s day to day.”
We all know that cars are like the people who drive them; no matter how good they are, they’re liable to slip and fall. Joe Maddon’s Tri Five classic is no exception, and ESPN reports that braking is the main issue behind this soft colored shoebox.
It’s an important feature to leave out, but Maddon does not sound like he is in any hurray making sure that his solid ’56 has all the padding it needs to come to a stop as readily as it carries.
Tri Five Chevys, even the ones void of chrome and fluff, will always hold a special place in the heart of every GM lover.
For an over achiever like the NFL’s Joe Maddon, what better way to celebrate a cherished sports victory than by indulging in an American classic. Cars and football really do bring people together for a good time!
