This is an impressive 1940 Chevy. This was the last year that the headlights were built on top of the fenders, as opposed to being mounted into them, and it is also the year the owner of the car, Marv Barnum of Port Orchard, Washington, was born. “Just a 1940 Chevy,” Barnum told us. “Same year I was born.”

Barnum has had the car for a little over three years now, and he does more than just look at it. “I’ve put over 5,000 miles on it since I bought it,” Barnum told us. “A little over 1,000 already this year.” The motor in this ’40 Chevy is out of a 1976 Chevy wagon. It’s a 400 cubic-inch engine and it produces around 300 horsepower.

Other drivetrain improvements include a TH350 transmission, Edelbrock carburetor, headers, Nova 10-bolt rearend, Mustang II front suspension, power steering, power disc brakes, and 2.5-inch exhaust. This ’40 Chevy also has stunning custom interior and beautiful pinstripe work done by Jr. Nelson and Bob Preston.

The body of this car is also all original steel, save for the lower rear panel under the trunk lid. Everything else is more than seventy years old. All of the chrome and stainless are also original and have just been treated to good polishing and rehoning as needed.
