After putting blood, sweat, and too much money into a classic, the biggest fear is wrecking the car or the car being stolen. One man, who had a prized 1970 Chevelle SS worth $300,000 had his car stolen while attending the Goodguys Indianapolis show in September.

Most of these stories dont end up with a happy ending. We hear stories of the car being parted out, destroyed, or never seen again. Reported from IndyStar, Keith Palmer of Michigan, whom owned the Chevelle had better luck. After his car was stolen, he received a call from a gentleman who identified himself as Herb. This gentleman said that he acquired Keith’s car after trading it for a motorcycle. He offered to sell Palmer back his car for a sum of $20,000.
Palmer suspected something was amiss and contact the police department. They set up an undercover sting when Palmer met Herb to look at the car. After arresting Herb, who turned out to be Herbert Lee Jones III, they investigated him. From the Police departments investigations they figured out Jones was the man responsible for the theft. Further investigations found a stolen 2002 Chevy truck and 1949 Chevy truck.
The icing on the cake for this story is that Palmer received his prize 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS back in one piece.
