Spectre Performance recently hosted a lunch for the RTTC2 event in southern California. It was during this event that a forum member at Pro-Touring.com, Carl Cassanova, got a special treat. In addition to their hosting duties, the Spectre Performance crew set to work fitting an intake tube and moving the air filter to the front right corner of the engine bay on Carl’s Camaro, a project he had been wanting to do for some time. It is actions like this that set regular businesses apart from businesses that really care about their customers. In a recent post on Pro-Touring.com, Carl thanked the Spectre crew for going above and beyond to tackle the project while hosting the event.
While attending the lunch, Carl was eyeing a block-off plate used to move the filter to the corner of the engine bay on first generation Camaros. Carl had been wanting to enclose his air filter to keep the heat of the engine away from it. Although fitting up the plate required a bunch of cutting due to some modifications done to the car, the Spectre crew took on the job without fuss and completed the filter relocation as well as the installation of an intake tube in a few hours.
Carl had planned on doing the project himself but had not done it yet partly because of the tight confines of his engine. He thought that specially angled tubes would have to be used or a cut-and-splice method would need to be utilized to get the job done. Spectre, however, had parts right on their shelf to do the job.
As Carl learned, Spectre offers 4-inch elbows in increments of 5. These pieces were in stock and already polished for applications. Carl stated in his “Thank You” that had he known about the availability of these Spectre parts, he would have tackled this project before now.
Because Carl’s Camaro has a stock feel, he decided to get rid of the polished finish of the elbows. To do this, he decided to file the elbows a bit and paint them black. The finished product looks great.
As Carl found out the hard way, if you think that your car project is going to be tedious and require specialty parts, it is worth the effort to check with companies offering automotive performance parts- chances are there is a company that has the parts you need to make your project easier. It is great to see that Carl got his long awaited modification done with the help of Spectre. They truly showed what their company is made of by stepping up to the plate to help out a customer all while hosting an event.
