If you have a first generation Camaro and you want a really trick rear suspension for it, check out RideTech’s AirBar System. The AirBar system eliminates your leaf springs and replaces it with a triangulated four link system for superior handling and increased tire clearance. The nice part about the rear bars in this system is that they are offset 3/4″ to allow the use of a wider rim and tire combination.
The Airbar Rear Suspension is a complete bolt in installation with the exception of the brackets that attach to your rear end housing. The rear main cross member can be welded into your car if you desire, but if bolted in it, allows you to return the car back stock suspension with ease if you need to.
RideTech has had great success with this system and it can be used with their Airbar Shockwave System or their AirBar Coil-Over Shocks. This was the same system that RideTech installed in the 48 Hour Camaro Build. Depending on what other modifications you are doing to the rear of your Camaro, (replacing exhaust, fuel tank, etc) typical installation will take about 2 to 4 hours.
The RideTech Airbar System has an optional sway bar that has their patented Posi links, and the bushings that attach to the frame have grease fittings already installed to prevent squeaking and premature wear. Check with the guys at RideTech before you purchase a rear suspension upgrade for your 67′-69′ Camaro and see why their’s is the best.
