We love the guys over at Rick’s Hot Rod Shop. Not only do they create fuel storage solutions for some of the most interesting car builds in the world, the have a solid work ethic that seems to be disappearing from this country.
Located in El Paso, Texas, where old fashion values are still appreciated, these masters of craftsmanship can appreciate a decent work environment to keep the motivation flowing. According to Rick’s Garage Shop Blog, “It would be impossible to get through the day without music. It’s a necessary part of the work day, especially around the shop. You need music to keep things moving, to keep things flowing.”
We agree. A soundtrack is important.
Rick’s blog went on to further explain the importance of music: “Everyone has a soundtrack. Some of the soundtracks are generic, your basic FM pop or latin rock. Then you have the classic rock, the Boston and Steely Dan midday lunchbox fare. But the best soundtracks are thought out and mean something, because after all, you have to keep things moving.”
So we were curious… What songs were on their top 5 and why? Here’s the response:
#1. Jack White’s Love Interruption for an early morning warm up.
#2. Waylon Jenning’s Rainy Day Woman to get you working into a groove.
#3. J.D. McPherson’s North Side Gal to keep us on a roll.
#4. Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass’ Tijuana Taxi. This is just horned happiness and we need to come up with an actual Tijuana Taxi project.
#5. ZZ Top’s Just Got Paid. This song makes you feel tough, like you’re in a gang of cowboy boot wearing outlaws who eat dust and cactus and quench their thirst with whiskey.
You’re not going to find too many arguments with these five from us but our top five has at least one song from “The Clash.” That would probably be our early morning wake up.
We’re interested in hearing what your shop’s daily soundtrack is like. Leave comments below.
