Choosing the right exhuast can be a daunting experience. With so many different style mufflers available, it’s hard to choose the right one for you specific build. As is the trend, swapping from a traditional iron-block to a modern LS-style build is all the rage. However, with new power comes a new sound.

Nestled neatly in the engine bay sits a LS3 E-Rod from Chevrolet Performance.

For many, the choice can make or break a build. In an effort to quench the audible thirst of potential customers, Maganaflow devised an ingenious means for facilitating nearly all of their mufflers in one easy-to-use, rotating muffler swapping system. Think: Gatling gun. As we found out from TheBLOCK.com, “Magnaflow Senior Manager Richard Waitis says he came up with the concept during a layover, so he sketched it out on a cocktail napkin. The design eventually hit the hands of Chip Foose, who transformed into the real thing.”

Powerblock also went on to explain, “When Richard Waitis came up with the concept, he wanted to answer a very simple question: What does it sound like?” So, the truck was built with four different muffler systems that they’re able to switch through to hear what each muffler sounds like.

The build was assembled by CW Restorations and also features a Chevy Performance E-Rod LS3 engine (For more information or to locate an E-ROD LS3, Part # 19244805, head to Chevrolet Performance) and a complete TCI chassis. The ’49 is also sporting large, Wilwood brakes, Foose wheels, Pirelli tires and Classic Industry body panels for a freshly finished look. The custom interior is from Bill Dunn’s One Stop Shop. The paint choice is BASF Glasurit 90 line, color by Chip Foose in Sioux Red.
