Many of us look back at the era right before the muscle car craze with a certain level of nostalgia. Automotive design was leading the course at the Big Three manufacturers during this time, and some of the most iconic automotive body styles penned during this era have stood the test of time quite well. One of these classic styles that stands head and shoulders above the rest is undoubtedly the 1957 Chevrolet. Now, thanks to the team at Dream Giveaway, you can relive this golden era of styling in this resto-modded 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, if you’re the lucky winner of this giveaway which is ending in just a few days.

This car’s modern variant of Inca Silver blends nicely with those Torq Thrust wheels (17×7, front and 17×8, rear).
Just like many of the things we reminisce about from this golden era of innocent optimism, this particular ’57 Chevy has gotten better with the passing of time. This Silver bullet is better suited for the rigors of today’s highways than ever before, with a variety of upgrades that will make it a welcome addition to anyone’s garage. While many Chevys left the factory in 1957 with a V-8, none came equipped with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, ideally suited to feed the mild-mannered 350 cubic-inch Chevrolet crate engine snuggled into the engine bay of this car.
A Light Resto-Modded 1957
There have been many improvements since this car left the assembly plant over sixty years ago, and this particular car can be considered a light resto-mod, utilizing several improvements without forgoing that classic styling. With a rated output of 240 horsepower, this car’s modern-day V8 trumps many of the original offerings from ’57 for performance. The highest-rated fuelie engines found in the super-rare Black Widows produced more horsepower, but if you adjust for the differences in measuring horsepower that occurred during the early ‘70s, you’ll see that it wasn’t as much of an increase as the numbers suggest.
What’s more, this engine produces each of those 240 horses with ease. A feat that was not quite so easy in keeping that mechanical Rochester fuel injection system in tune back in the day. What’s more, this resto-modded 1957 Chevrolet’s engine is fitted with modern air-conditioning, an option never installed on a factory, solid-lifter engine such as the 283-horsepower, 283 cubic-inch fuelie engine.
That air conditioning is just one welcome modification within the cabin of this Chevy. There’s also a tilt steering column and an upgraded gauge panel for viewing while driving. Power steering and power disc brakes also come standard on this resto-modded ’57, making for effortless handling on the open highway and also while selecting that perfect spot at the cruise-in.
We’ve also learned a thing or two about selecting gears since this car rolled off the showroom floor. While this car would have used either the two- or three-speed automatic or possibly a three-speed manual at best, its current transmission now houses five forward speeds – the top-notch reserved for fuel-sipping highway miles. We could go on and on about the tasteful modifications that make this the perfect choice for a modern-day cruiser, but let’s let Dream Giveaway’s own Christopher Philip give all the details in this informative video.
