Event Coverage: Ray Evernham’s 2018 Americarna Live Car Show

For the last sixth years, Davidson, North Carolina has been home to Ray Evernham’s Americarna Live car and truck show. The show is held in the parking lot areas surrounding the Ingersoll Rand campus. This great event is a fundraiser Ray puts on to raise money for the Autism Society of North Carolina, and IGNITE Community for young adults in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Most of the show participants came from around the Charlotte, area, and participants started lining up at the gate around 7:00 a.m. so they could get in and claim their parking spot. The day’s activities got underway with a welcoming by show host Ray Evernham.

There were roughly 500 cars covering most of the parking lot areas, and the Chevy brand filled most of the show area. There were Camaros, Chevelles, some early-model Impalas, several late-model Camaros, and a good variety of Chevy trucks.  Many of these great rides belonged to some of the NASCAR team members and drivers that live in the Charlotte area.

Jeff Gordon had a unique ride, his ’52 Oldsmobile that had a clear window in the hood so you could see the engine. There was even a replica of the red and gold number 22 Dodge Charger that Bobby Allison drove. Detroit Speed had its award-winning black ’69 Camaro called TUX on hand. This car won the Battle of the Builders, Goodguys Street Machine of the Year, and the Street Rodder Magazine Triple Crown Award at the recent SEMA show. Ray Evernham even brought a dark blue ’65 Chevelle he restored.

If you got hungry while checking out all the great rides, there were several food trucks on hand selling all types of great eats, and there were bands playing on the main stage. At around 2:00 p.m., participants and spectators gathered around the stage for the award’s ceremony.

This was a very successful event, raising a good amount of money for the Autism Society. If you near Davidson next November, this is a must see event. For information and the 2019 show date, keep checking Ray’s Facebook page  or the Americarna Live website.
