What do you get when you take a 1969 Camaro, a big ol’ stack of Benjamins, and some hard work by a lot of talented people? You get Project Jane Doe. This unbelievable machine started out as a simple “let’s pull the engine and trans and clean some stuff up”, and any hardcore gearhead knows where we’re going next – “since I’m already doing this, I should do that”…and in this owner’s case, all roads led directly to the show-quality car you see here.
What started as a simple project turned into the shell of the car heading off on a flatbed to be media blasted in preparation for a fresh squirt of color. Once the car was stripped, the owner, Gregg, decided to go ahead and hang a new set of rear quarter-panels on the car, since one had been replaced already and not done correctly, leaving a bunch of Bondo to ruin the otherwise-clean canvas. But after a year of not much movement on the car’s progress other than the panels themselves being replaced, he decided to pull the car out of that shop and take it over to the wizards at Best Of Show Coachworks.
Although they had to re-do some of the work that had already been completed (the car sat outside after being etch primed for weeks), a plan was hatched to get the car completed and they were off to the races.

Meanwhile, Gregg began accumulating hard parts. What started out as a purchase of an Art Morrison C6-style subframe assembly that included a number of other hard parts, including an LS6 engine and four-speed automatic, turned into the engine and transmission getting sold off and the money turned into an LS7 and F-Body T-56 six-speed transmission.
There are so many custom touches on this car, most notably the 4th-Gen Camaro dash assembly, and we could ramble on and on about Gregg’s car and the complete build. Over time, this cool project turned into a prime spot in the Hot Rod Industry Alliance booth at the 2011 SEMA show.
