Okay, someone needs to be in Seattle, and buy this for us! The Mecum auction is June 5 and 6, and this 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Super Camaro will be sold on Saturday. Lot number S120.1 is a gorgeous Hugger Orange, and is one of the first 50 cars that were ordered by Don Yenko under the COPO 9561 program. This car also has the COPO 9737 Sports Car Conversion equipment, and was sold new at Joseph Chevrolet in Cincinnati, Ohio. COPO 9737 gave the owner E70X15 tires on Rally Wheels, a 140 mph speedometer, and a 1-inch front stabilizer bar.

This perfect example of the big-block breed was privy to a complete rotisserie restoration, and as you would expect, features everything the way it should be; the graphics, front and rear spoilers, cowl-induction hood, American Racing wheels and Goodyear Wide Tread GT tires, this car screams Yenko! Looking under the hood and headed out the back of the car, all correct date-coded items make up the drivetrain, and as one would expect, the 427 and four speed are in use. This restoration even includes the usually owner-removed A.I.R. (Air Injection Reactor) smog control system.

The black, standard interior is all business, with the floor-mounted Hurst shifter and the famous SYC headrest insignia accompany bucket seats. Oh yeah, the famous a 140 mph speedometer and column-mounted Stewart Warner tachometer are where they should be.

The car was awarded a class win at the 2007 Meadowbrook Concours d’Elegance, and is a former magazine cover car. This gem is well documented, and still has the original Protect-O-Plate from Yenko supercar dealer Joseph Chevrolet. Finally, the car comes with an invaluable Certificate of Authenticity from the COPO Connection, and a vintage photo of Don Yenko himself with this same car in the background.
