A report from Yahoo Autos has a list of the top ten least reliable cars. This corresponds with their list of the of the most reliable cars. They listed all the cars in order of reliability and this is the last ten on that list.
Top ten least reliable cars:
1. Ford C-MAX Energi (Plug-in Hybrid)*
2. Ford Escape (1.6L Ecoboost)*
3. Mini Cooper Countryman
4. Ford C-Max Hybrid
5. Nissan Pathfinder*
6. Volkswagen Beetle
7. Cadillac XTS*
8. Ford Explorer (V6, 4WD)
9. Hyundai Genesis Coupe*
10. Ford Taurus (turbo)*
Not surprising for us Chevy folk, Ford claimed five of those spots. The only GM product to sneak into that list was the Cadillac XTS. The rest were made up of imports, such as Volkswagen and Nissan.

This list is compiled based on the three newest model years and only if that model hasn’t changed during those three years. The models listed with an asterisk, have only one year of reliability testing. Some of these have been made for a few years, such as the Pathfinder and Genesis Coupe. There was plenty of time for these manufactures to fix issues with them.
This list doesn’t mean that the car wasn’t liked by testers. Three of the models scored high enough to be recommended, but weren’t because the reliability was low for them. On the flip side of the lowest scoring in reliability, here’s the list of the top ten most reliable auto brands:
1. Lexus
2. Toyota
3. Acura
4. Audi
5. Mazda
6. Infiniti
7. Volvo
8. Honda
9. GMC
10. Subaru
Interesting to read though that General Motors, with GMC, Buick and Chevrolet ranked higher overall than Ford Motor Company and Chrysler. However a few models in the Chevrolet line up prevented them from being in the top ten list of most reliable. GMC actually jumped up in reliability three spots in only one year.
These lists are compiled based off thousands of consumer reports. They are helpful when purchasing a new vehicle that will last you for years to come. They also show us what we already know, buy General Motors!
