NicKey Performance is readying their new Super Camaro lineup based on the 2016 Chevrolet 1LE Camaro. These cars are true supercars, with LS engines producing anywhere up to 1,000 horsepower for the Stage III editions. The first 2016 Super Camaro is going to be a Stage II version, with an engine that will produce somewhere between 600 and 800 horsepower.
About the NicKey Number 001 2016 Super Camaro
The NicKey Super Camaro lineup for 2016 is based on the 2016 1LE Camaro/Camaro SS. This is number 001 before anything was done to it. Notice the bright and clear light lenses.
All NicKey Stage II conversions will have an LS3 engine that, depending on customer desire, will produce between 600 and 800 HP (The “base” engine will produce 600 horsepower). Unfortunately they’re too busy getting it ready for the Chicago Auto Show coming up soon to respond much to information requests. What we do know, is that it will have a naturally-aspirated 376ci LS3 engine (“power adders” are available at extra cost. Some of these available “power adders” include:
- Edelbrock E-Force supercharger
- Magnusson supercharger or ProCharger supercharger
- Twin turbo options available

Standard performance upgrades to the engine will include custom-built NicKey CNC-ported heads. Flowing the extra air these heads will deliver, is an exhaust system custom-tuned by the magicians in NicKey’s fabrication shop, and a high-performance intake manifold. Controlling the flow of gases through the engine is a NicKey-spec cam. Ensuring that enough fuel reaches the cylinders is done by adding a set of high-flow fuel rails.

On the outside, NicKey number 001 features a vintage color – “Hugger Orange” – with special graphics that are unique to this car. The graphics incorporate both the NicKey logo as well as a specially-created design for the owner of the vehicle (Burnout Barker). One of the major exterior changes for the NicKey Super Camaro lineup is the heavy smoking of all exterior lights, giving them a meaner, yet more subdued appearance.
Not only does the engine receive some performance improvements, it also gets a functional dressing up.
NicKey number 001 was given custom stripes and graphics that include gold leaf by the master of the brush, Brando. When finished, the car will be riding on a set of five spoke wheels milled by Forgeline Wheels, with a vintage look .
Taking a Look at the Stage I Upgrade Group
All NicKey Stage I Super Camaro models will include mild performance improvements to the base LS3 engine. Some external custom appearance items will also be included. Count on these to include custom wheels and brake parts. As true almost “one-off” cars, each member of the NicKey Super Camaro lineup will also come with a special ID plate, alerting everyone that this particular vehicle was “Built For” the buyer.

A set of custom tuned 1 7/8-inch stainless-steel long-tube headers will allow the engine to breath better. Giving an extra hand to the headers is a 3-inch stainless “X” pipe and a pair of high-flowing cats running into the stock mufflers. Giving another good bump to the performance numbers is a Halltech Yellow Jacket Cold Air Induction System. Ensuring that this intake system isn’t strangling itself is a high flow air cleaner. These will feed air and fuel through a F.A.S.T. Performance intake. Each engine will receive a custom tune to NicKey specs, and the buyer will be given the dyno sheets.
Most of the custom interior appointments are subdued. The seats are a significant exception.
The Stage II version of the NicKey Performance Super Camaro will have a base price of just over $18,200 – much more affordable than the price tag on European super cars.
