There are musicians, and then there are those who stand out from among the hoard of hopeful, and talented artists to be exceptional performers. Cars are very much the same way. The two worlds collided in this case when Motley Crue member, Nikki Sixx’s 1971 Chevelle SS 454 crossed the auction block at Barrett-Jackson’s 2024 Scottsdale Auction. When the bidding stopped, the Nikki Sixx 1971 Chevelle exchanged owners with a final price tag of $110,000.
The car was offered at no reserve, but there were no reservations during Nikki’s ownership of the vehicle. “I get the best deal I can,” he says. “I drive them, I treat them really good, and then I sell them, and then I buy another hot rod with that money.”
When Nikki says he drives them, he means it. “I love speed,” he states. Keeping true to his word, this big-block 1971 Chevelle is fitted with an iconic LS5 Turbo Jet 454/365 horsepower engine paired with a heavy-duty TH400 three-speed automatic transmission.
Getting the best deal on this awesome big-block Chevelle in 2011, the car was treated to a complete, frame-off restoration to its current state. The Cranberry Red convertible features a black interior with one major upgrade, Nikki’s autograph on the glove compartment door!
The car was transferred over to its new owner with a copy of the window sticker, showing the car’s build, including power brakes and steering. The Nikki Sixx 1971 Chevelle originally sold through Duran Chevrolet in Granbury, Texas for $5,891.20, a long way from the final bidding price of $110,000!
