With primary filming complete, Michael Bay’s next seizure-inducing sequel to the franchise, “Transformers 3: Dark of The Moon” is looking more likely to feature the ostensibly absent Chevrolet Jolt Autobot named “Jolt.”
In the previous installment, Jolt was obviously shoehorned into the previous film merely as a gimmick to promote Chevy’s electric sedan and its looking like Jolt will return again for a weak walk on cameo.
GM informed Reuters that it’s looking to increase its promotional spending on the Volt campaign in the coming year, in part due to a “growing interest in reaching more women.” Part of this spending will include a global digital promotion for the Volt tied to the third “Transformers” movie around its scheduled July release. The problem is that the third film is currently in post-production (editing, sound, special effects) and at no time was the telltale blue Volt spotted on set.
Seeing that the Volt was absent from filming, its expected that Jolt will only be added – if at all – digitally during a fight scene or at least in the background.
Either way, images and information has been leaked confirming the return of a Jolt action figure including all-new graphics to the vehicle mode. While this may not be super exciting to those interested in the third film, it is a bit of politics and money that we rarely get to see first hand.
