We’ve all had a car from our childhood years that we aspired to get when we were adults. No matter how long it takes to get this beloved car, the result is the same- the utmost love and appreciation for the car you were finally able to obtain. Recently HighSide Media covered the build of one of the owners of JEGS’ childhood favorite cars- a ‘71 Vega GT. We check in on the story as the build is nearing its end.
The car is owned by Mike Coughlin, one of the four brothers that own JEGS Performance Parts. From a very young age, Coughlin saw Vegas race and wanted one ever since. For Coughlin’s build, he entrusted the car to Woody’s Hot Rodz in Bright, Indiana. Keeping Coughlin up to date on the build through pictures, Woody’s has used parts from Coughlin’s company inside and out and has even fitted an LSX-454 engine that JEGS offers into the Vega.
The build is now almost complete and Coughlin is awaiting the day when his car returns fully rebuilt with an incredible powerhouse under the hood. Our congratulations goes out to Coughlin for having his car almost done. There is no better day in a gearhead’s life than turning the key in their ultimate car for the first time. We look forward to hearing an update on Coughlin and his Vega when the build is completed.
