Has The ’69 Chevelle Made A Comeback? Get Your Reimagined Version

For anyone to iterate the phrase, “the 1969 Chevelle Super Sport is one of the most iconic muscle cars of all time,” they are making a bold statement. Sure, the car is iconic and a personal favorite of mine, but I digress. For the last several years, there have been rumors and innuendo going around the internet about the Chevelle making a comeback with Chevrolet. While that is not true, there is an option, and a very cool one at that.

The folks at Vision Retro Designs (VRD) have reimagined an utterly cool and modern version in a ride they are dubbing the A69 Limited Edition. This reimagined hot rod will be available in a limited production run of 25 cars.

69 Chevelle

the 6.2-liter supercharged engine makes this a true late-model muscle car.

The A69 is built on the foundation of a late-model Camaro ZL1 convertible. While the underside is all late-model ZL1, the exterior of the A69 has been fully transformed. The modern muscle car features carbon fiber in new body panels that truly mimic a contemporary interpretation of the legendary 1969 A-body Chevelle. It’s hard to argue the heritage when looking at the grille and rear body treatments.

The original ’69 Chevelle has an unmistakable frontend, and so does the A69. Upfront there’s a distinct Super Sport-esque hood and quad headlights. The rear, with its Satin Black center panel and reminiscent of 1969 taillights, retains the fifth-gen’s factory convenience and safety features like the backup camera and parking sensors.

In keeping with the retro theme, SS stripes, albeit in the look of carbon, enhance the custom Sparkling Burgundy paint (Code 419SB). What’s more, the exposed carbon package on the lower spoilers and ground effects makes the 20-inch chrome split-spoke wheels that are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Sport tires glisten in the sun. This is a late-model chassis, so you can expect stopping power to be courtesy of track-ready Brembo brakes. The front features two-piece rotors with six-piston calipers while the rear is fitted with four-piston calipers and one-piece rotors.

Under the hood is an exposed, carbon “Feature Sweep” showcasing the 580 horsepower, 6.2-liter LSA supercharged V8 paired to Chevrolet’s optional heavy-duty 6L90-E automatic transmission. Completing the under hood look of performance, the strut tower brace is wrapped in carbon while a numbered data plaque is displayed on the engine cover.

I suspect the interior is where you’ll spend countless hours racking up the miles. For that reason, VRD has created an interior that is top-notch. The uncoverable interior received custom Napa leather upholstery highlighted with red accents. Nodding to the past, the front seats feature Heritage Design headrests along with custom A69 embroidery. The steering wheel and custom door sills feature carbon accents with a serialized data plaque mounted on the dashboard and inside the driver’s door jamb.

69 Chevelle

It’s been decades since a new Chevelle has appeared in dealer showrooms, and this A69 Limited Edition rumbles into that void. It harkens to the model’s storied past while giving present-day driving enthusiasts and collectors a thoroughly modern, future performance classic to enjoy and cherish for years to come.
