To have a classic American muscle car that handles like a dream is one of the ultimate goals behind the pro-touring movement. This is why many pro-touring enthusiasts maintain the muscle car look while upgrading the suspension and other performance components on their cars. Recently, a notable ‘69 pro-touring Camaro was added to the line-up of cars being sold at the Mecum auction to be held in Dallas, Texas in October. Noted as one of the first pro-touring cars created, this Camaro is a prime example of this modern automotive trend.
The Camaro comes equipped with a 406cui engine that is matted to a manual transmission for the utmost control. It has headers, dual exhaust, four-wheel power disc brakes and air conditioning. In true pro-touring fashion, this Camaro was built for handling and is stated to have been created to handle like a C5 Corvette. In addition to the superior handling, the car has a roll cage that is also necessary for serious racing. The Camaro is topped off with front and rear spoilers, a custom interior and yellow exterior with black race stripes. It’s no wonder that this car won the 2001 GoodGuys’ Street Machine of the Year award.
If you are interested in bidding on this fine example of a pro-touring car, the Camaro will cross the auction block at the Dallas Mecum Auction on Friday October 7th at 4:35p.m. We hope that this notable car goes to a pro-touring enthusiast that will take it to events in pursuit of another show title. We look forward to competing against this car with our very own autocrossing Camaro.
