Chevrolet wants to air your 30-second commercial in the next Super Bowl broadcast and there’s more than just cinematic glory involved. The top spot will win a $25,000 cash prize. Round One of the contest is for script writers and the top prize is $5,000.
The script for your film should involve an epic road trip story or adventure that captures the spirit of Route 66 and Chevrolet. Although cash prizes will be awarded for first through fifth place in the script portion, you do not need to participate here to be eligible for the film submission portion.
Details of the second round of participation are to be released in July or August, although the deadline for final film submission is said to be December 1, 2011. Any Chevrolet product may be shown in the film.
This is not the first time that GM has looked to the public, either for inspiration of production. In 2007, teams of college students competed to have their ideas turned into a Super Bowl commercial.
More recently, GM partnered with Mofilm to generate new commercials, in conjunction with the Tribeca Film Festival.
Mofilm returns again for this program. The company specializes in crowd-sourcing programs to generate new communication concepts and ideas. Participants need to register online with Mofilm to gain access to support materials.
