With gas prices on the rise and summer approaching, it’s the beginning of the car show and cruise season. A lot of us will not be able to attend every cruise night or car related event that comes along. The present economy and hike in gas prices may have put a burden on our wallets and how we will use our hot rods this summer, but its certainly not a reason to up and sell that ride and give up the hobby we all love.
This year pick the events that are really important to you and plan well, if it’s a far away show and you’re towing that classic 200-plus-miles, make it count. Figure that the fuel cost is part of the trip expense and plan accordingly. Don’t forget that these cars get only get eight miles to the gallon.
For us car fanatics, we could take the family to dinner in the Chevelle and take the long way home and it wouldn’t hurt us financially. We still get the pleasure of cruising to and from the restaurant and a nice cruise, and we are less likely to complain when the wife asks to stop by the Walmart on the way home.
