The first generation SS Camaro set the stage for performance f-bodies for decades. One of these cars that began it all will be up for bid at the Daytime Auction coming up in August, put on by Mecum Auctions. While 43 years have passed since this SS Camaro came off the assembly line, a recent restoration has brought it back to its original glory, complete with its numbers-matching engine and transmission.

The Camaro being auctioned off is a 1968 white SS with dark blue racing stripes that recently underwent a body-on restoration. The restoration included rebuilding the numbers-matching 396cui engine and M-20 Muncie four-speed transmission that come equipped on the car. Factory components on the Camaro include power steering, power front disc brakes, fold down rear seat, gauge package and center console. The car is also equipped with a 12-bolt rear end, rebuilt brakes and suspension, new glass and a new exhaust. The interior of this beautifully restored SS is mostly new with a deluxe steering wheel, Tic-toc-tac Tachometer, and retro AM/FM radio with Ipod capabilities. The whole ride sits on 15-inch Rally wheels.

It is nice to see that at least some of these first generation Camaros are being taken care of and restored to virtually new condition. If you’re interested in bidding on this beautiful car, it will cross the auction block at the Daytime Auction in Monterey, California on August 20th at 11:30a.m. We hope this car goes to someone that truly appreciates what they’re buying.
