An unfortunate reality about classic cars today is that many of them are in rough shape- victims of rough treatment, being left out in the elements and used for extra parts. While it is unfortunate that classic cars are allowed to get to this level, it leaves room for complete frame-off restorations that result in cars as good, if not better, than new. That is the case for a recent addition to Mecum’s Daytime Auction.
Set to cross the auction block in mid August is a completely restored ‘61 Impala SS convertible. This car underwent a complete frame-off nut and bolt restoration in 2011. The Impala even sports its correct factory assembly markings.
The car comes equipped with a Chevy 348cui Tri Power “W” engine, four-speed transmission, Positraction rear end, tachometer, vacuum trunk release, Autronic eye and power everything. It is also equipped with a rare remote driver’s side mirror. Bumper covers, dual antennas, stainless steel rocker moldings and Foxcraft fender skirts make this car true to the early 1960s. The Impala is finished off with a black exterior and top that sets off the red interior.
This is an extraordinary restored Impala. If you are interested in trying to make it your own, you can bid on the car at the Daytime Auction in Monterey, California. The Impala is set to be auctioned off at 4:45p.m. on Saturday August 20th. Best of luck goes to anyone planning to bid!
