This Ford has more antennas than a Russian trawler. We hope that it finally gets good reception.

Being hardcore Chevy guys and gals, we never get to see other the other half lives (or listens). We’re quite happy with our Chevy rides and rockin’ sounds. We did manage to get a peek at a couple of Fords and took a closer look at their audio comforts.

All we can say is… We’re proud to be GM owners!

Our first sighting of the legendary Ford Delphi/Delco sound system. Delphi/Delco was owned by General Motors until 1999 when they became a publicly traded company, separate from GM.

Delphi has since manufactured radios for several car makers, including GM and Ford, building these sound systems to each car maker’s specifications. It didn’t alarm us to see a compact Ford armed with more antennas than a Russian Trawler.  

We thought this docking station for the iPhone was a little awkward and probably didn’t work well because the iPhone’s port was not connected to anything.

By the looks of this car, it’s being used as a harbor patrol vessel, which could explain why the extra concern for reception is warranted. In any case, we hope the Ford finally gets good reception. 

Our next look at the wonderful world of Ford car stereos features what appears to be an iPhone docking station in a 1999 Ford Mustang.

Looks wonderful and we’re sure that the sound is great but we couldn’t help notice that the iPhone is placed in the docking station backwards.

The port end goes into the station first.

Unlike Delphi, Apple Inc. still makes the iPhone and has never been owned by any of the car manufacturers. Apple Inc. is a public international corporation.
