Our last update on Cathy Fig’s Chevelle brought you the news that the car was out of paint, ready for assembly. The crew was anxious to get back to work and get this car on the road. Within a day or two of Cathy seeing that her car was out of paint, the wind got knocked out of the crews sails with the news of Cathy’s passing. After a long battle with brain cancer, Cathy passed away March 31st, 2014 at age 58.
With the heavy loss on their minds, the crew pushed forward with even more determination to finish the convertible. A brand new top was installed on the ‘vert, and work began to get the car back to operating condition. The fresh paint was cut and buffed to a mirror finish.
All new brakes were installed and bled along with the engine being installed after a fresh coat of paint. The little details under the hood were getting finished as well, like wiring and hoses to get the motor closer to being fired back up. When finished, this car will be better than new, with a few minor upgrades here and there on the car.
The crew wanted to give thanks to Ground Up for their continued support on the project to get it finished! We will continue to bring you updates on this car as it gets finished, so stay tuned!
