Spring is here and if your a true car guy, the need to get out and shake the cobwebs off that hot rod are long over due. Most of us that experience winter do not have the luxury of driving our muscle cars and hot rods year round. Those of us that do endure cold winters have down time to work on and build our projects getting them ready for the next season of cruising and racing. But if you have a car that is for the most part already done and it sits awaiting a nice warm day to stretch its legs, the cabin fever can be harsh.
A car guy lives and breathes the hobby, from the first turn of the key and the rumble of the exhaust tone, it sends a message through the central nervous system and strikes us like a drug.
The engine sounds like a symphony, and taking our car out for that first ride of the season is indescribable, maybe a trip for some fresh fuel or the two hour trip just to get milk, any excuse will suffice just to get the fix from driving our machines.
Whether you’re 17 or 70 we all have it, the “car bug;” it bites us at a young age and we are hooked like a school of stripers in a feeding frenzy. Was it our first car show we attended or the drag races we saw, once the need for something other than basic transportation sets in there is no turning back.
Simply put, our cars whether it be a hot rod , antique, muscle car, or just an old beater give us a feeling of joy that cannot be replaced by any form of drug or therapy for that matter. Its a very common ground that we all as car people can relate to and though the stress of life and work can sometimes limit our time behind the wheel, when we do cruise, it makes it that much more worthwhile.
