When you think of classic Chevrolets, the Biscayne probably doesn’t pop into your head first. However, this doesn’t mean that it is not a notable car from the muscle-car era. Fortunately for one Mecum goer, one of these classic sedans will be going home with them. But this isn’t just any Biscayne, it is a one of 25 documented two-door cars made with its specific engine and transmission combination.
The Biscayne is a ‘68 two-door sedan with a rebuilt, numbers-matching 427cui, 385hp engine and four-speed M-20 transmission, one of only two that are still in existence. In its lifetime, the car only acquired 65,000 miles and has undergone an extensive body-off restoration. The restoration of this Biscayne was done with so much attention to detail that every part was taken apart and replaced/refurbished with NORS and NOPS parts. All the bolts and clips were even taken off the car and re-cadmium plated.
New parts that were put on the Biscayne during the restoration process include a new gas tank, fuel lines, suspension components, brakes and weather stripping. The interior of the car was completely redone in correct factory, blue interior components. All chrome plating was replaced with show chrome while all stainless steel components were polished to a mirror show finish. The Biscayne was finished off in a Teal blue color.
If you’re interested in bidding on this show-quality, rare classic, it will be up for bid at the St. Charles Mecum Auction. It is set to cross the auction block on Saturday September 17th at 2:30p.m. We look forward to seeing just how much attention this Biscayne gets and hope to see it displayed at car shows with its new owner in the future.
