We’ll admit that half of the time we cruise eBay for cars it’s just to find people that have abandoned projects that we’d like to finish. This ’66 Nova SS is certainly an example of that, and to us it would appear that a lot of the hard work has already been done! According to the listing the body is solid welded to the chassis, and the entire body is rust free, has new quarter panels, is wearing a full coat of primer, and awaits paint from the new owner.
It comes with two different fiberglass hoods in addition to the original steel one where the first of the fiberglass hoods has a scoop, and the other of which is a cowl induction style setup. The trunk lid and front bumper are also fiberglass. According to the listing though the car will need some substantial work in a new floor as well as a new roll cage.
Under the hood, or lack thereof, the motor is a little 350 with a 671 blower, two 700 CFM Carter carbs, and shorty headers. The setup is good for around 650 horsepower and is backed up by a Doug Nash 5-speed.
From a chassis perspective the front end has a full kit from Heidts that includes a rack and pinion, struts, and control arms. The rear end is a 4-link setup with a Ford 9-inch rear end from Moser and a stout 4:30 spool gear. Disc brakes can be found on all four corners of the car.
We’re not sure why, but we dig this little Nova. It’s a great example of how a project can perpetually be “almost done!”
