As far as iconic American cars go, the 1955 through 1957 Chevy is among the most popular and collectible reminders of an age of the emerging American superpower we know and love today. Any car collector worth his fortune has at least one classic 50’s Chevy sitting idle in the garage. Today, these cars can be found everywhere, from drag strips to Concours shows.
Yet one modification we’ve never seen undertaken on a car like the ‘55 Chevy sedan is the conversion into a 4×4 trar, a combination truck and car. This one ain’t pretty…but it sure is different, and it can be yours if you put up the highest bid on eBay.
The description is brief, but the pictures pretty much tell the story. This isn’t so much a car as it is a project, a ‘55 Chevy sedan covered in some lovely patina sitting on an unspecified Chevy 4×4 frame. There is no engine, no transmission, though most (if not all) of the interior is there, as is a lot of the hard-to-find chrome pieces.
We must admit, the ‘55 Chevy sitting on the 4×4 frame does look pretty menacing. However, there is a lot of work to put in before this project is anywhere close to road worthy. That said, if you were to drop a nice LS engine under the hood, and keep the classic patina look, you’d have a pretty post-apocalyptic chariot.
Can you see yourself finishing this project, or would you rather start fresh?
