We don’t care who you are; there’s no way one can deny the sheer awesomeness (is that a word?) of the Chevrolet El Camino. What is considered as a half car/half truck concoction that was originally based on the full-sized B-body Chevrolet sedan from ’59-’63, was immediately replaced by the all-new A-body Malibu/Chevelle platform for 1964, where it remained until production ceased in 1988, has become a vehicle of cult status.

In this instance, we’re looking at what many might consider the mecca or the paramount of the El Caminos; the ’70 SS 454.

Although this isn’t the ultra-rare primo LS6 example, it is a beautiful 454 in LS5 spec nonetheless, and we think just about anybody would want to park this one in their driveway.

As everyone knows, the LS5 El Camino showed up to the party with 360hp (all powerplants and horsepower figures were the same as Chevelle) and offered all of the punch of a muscle car, with the utility of a pickup.

In fact, thanks to the Super Sport variant’s monsterous torque, it was not uncommon to see El Caminos haul their four passenger counterparts to the drag strip during those days.

We spotted this one on eBay sporting an almost completed full frame-up restoration -claiming full documentation, and matching numbers. Painted in the desirable (Code 19) black with white stripes color combination, this seller should have no trouble finding this one a new home, providing if everything checks out and the final selling price is right.

Unfortunately, the seller didn’t reveal a whole lot of information other than what has already been said, along with a short list of options, such as the 4.10 gearset, ZL2 Cowl-Induction hood, and the optional bumper guards and gauge cluster – so be sure to ask plenty of questions when discussing the details on this particular car.
