The Hog Ring is a website and forum dedicated to the craft of automotive upholstery. They live and breath hog rings, stitching, and padding. One unique feature that The Hog Ring is offering for free is professionally designed template drawings.
These drawings are similar to a coloring book, where they have the outlines and basic shape of a cars interior, but there is no real patterns or colors drawn in. This allows you and your upholster to sketch out different ideas, and see how they look before ever laying scissors on cow skin. While having a stock interior really gives the car a factory look, sometimes you want to do something subtle to set your interior off from the car next to it. That might be a french seam instead of piping, or just changing the color. However if you’re wanting to add inserts or custom stitching, these templates will help your vision get onto paper to become a reality.
The Hog Ring has just started offering these, so for our Chevy’s they only have 1955-1957 Bel Air and 1967-1969 Camaro. The Bel Air version is offered with both bench and bucket seats, and two different versions of consoles. They will be unveiling new models every month, so check back for yours!
For now, print one of these out, borrow your kids crayons, and draw the interior of your dreams!
